We are Indiana's FIRST all-female junior flat track roller derby league and proud members of the Junior Roller Derby Association . Flat track roller derby is quickly becoming the fastest growing sport with adult and junior leagues cropping up all over the world and our league is no different! We have grown to over 40 members since our first season in 2009 with a varsity and junior varsity squad ranging in ages 9-17. Our dedicated volunteer coaching and training staff strives hard to provide a fun, safe and sportsman like atmosphere for the purpose of learning to compete, achieve personal and team goals and empower through the sport of roller derby. We teach our skaters to never use the words, “I can’t” but to try their best at each practice and game to reach their goals.
You may see us donned in funky socks and fun skirts but our Brats play full-contact roller derby by current WFTDA (Womens Flat Track Derby Assoc) rule set you can find at: www.wftda.com. We encourage all incoming skaters to attend our 5-6 week bootcamp that begins in August to attain basic derby skating skills and game knowledge before our all-league practices begin in October. We feel our bootcamp provides an experience to better prepare the skater for success in playing our sport.
We practice on Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Bells Skating Rink, located at 7009 E Lincoln Hwy, Ft Wayne, IN 46806. We play 4 double-header home bouts also at Bell's along with several summer travel games. We encourage all skaters to sign up for travel games but it’s not mandatory to be eligible for home games or attending our events. Feel free to attend a practice and find out more about us. We love to take time out from our busy practices and game schedules to appear at and donate to charitable organizations such as “The Charis House”, "Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes”, "Special People Bowling", the “Linus Project” and the “Buddy Walk”.
